What is Rolfing?

Rolfing Structural Integration is a holistic body approach of assessing the body, manipulating the soft tissue called fascia, and educating the body on more efficient movement patterns. By methodically lengthening, rebalancing, and integrating the fascia, Rolfing is able to have a significant effect on muscles, tendons, ligaments, and nerves. One of the major goals of Rolfing is to establish balance and adaptability in an individual’s structure so they can function in an efficient manner, both when they are in and out of alignment during their everyday activities. This will lead to a more comfortable, free flowing, pain free body.

Rolfing can also be defined as the change of structural patterns using manual techniques to increase the efficiency of movement and overall well being. Changing the anatomical placement increases the body’s physiological capabilities. When the body’s physiology is at equilibrium, a person’s mental and emotional capacity will be optimized in their surroundings.
